Hello fellow film enthusiasts!
Here is some information about me, my passions, my creative background and why I was motivated to begin writing film reviews.
Since a young age I was filming various ‘skits’ and mock-umentaries with my family and friends, with a keen interest to further expand my knowledge. Formal study and training began in high school where I studied digital video production and media studies at Siena College (Camberwell) until my year 12 VCE. During this time I also played the Flute and did so for 7 years, reaching a level 6 in AMEB music.
At tertiary studies in 2013, I began a Bachelor of Arts at Monash University and continued with digital media and theory subjects which covered key elements of entertainment such as film, television, radio, newspapers and social networking. During this time I developed an interest in film critique and began writing and reviewing various work, predominately mainstream Hollywood. In 2014 I transferred to Deakin University to begin a more film-focused programme by being accepted to study a Bachelor of Creative Arts (Film and Television). This is my current status as I am in my second year of tertiary studies, first trimester.
Together, my passion for both filmmaking and writing led to the development of my art form of in depth analysis and reviews of various film and television series. With inspirations such as Margret Pomeranz, David Stratton, Mike D’Angelo and Jonathan Rosenbaum, I began formally writing as a film critic. My ability to write fluently and with expression, paired with an urge to voice my opinions, thoughts and discoveries, made critical film investigation come easy to me.
As well as some short fictional films completed between the ages of 8 and 16, I have written a collection of film reviews ranging from 2011 to 2015. My first review was of Taken, which I posted on numerous film sites including IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, MoviePilot.com and movie-blogger.com. Since then, I have reviewed a number of popular Hollywood films including, The Hunger Games (2012), Some Like It Hot (1959), The Avengers (2012), Singin’ in the Rain (1952), Harvey (1950), Spiderman trilogy (2002, 2004 and 2007), The Matrix trilogy (1999, 2003), Cinderella (2015), Yes Man (2008), the Harry Potter franchise (2001-2011) and the Alien franchise (1979, 1986 and 1992).
Flash to present day and I have started a stand alone website where I can personally share all my reviews, opinions and comments, while allowing readers to comment and share themselves. This passion of mine will continue to grow and flourish, as I hope to entertain my readers and viewers, while also providing them with a new found knowledge and appreciation for all things movies.
